RE: Anybody use NAPA oil filters for Cummins?

I just love these threads...a guy asks a simple question about using a filter and we have 5 pages of this one is better than that one...I have been using both Fleetguard and NAPA Gold and at present, 120,000 miles on a '99 ISC 350 and still running strong...If I am near Cummins I'll buy the fleetguard, if close to NAPA I'll get the Gold...works for me...usually change the oil and filters twice a year...fuel and ES filters once a year...Go get em Sully...LMAO..

RE: DASH AC HAS VACUUM PROBLEM

Agree with others...it is a vaccumn leak...how to find it is the issue...it is labor intensive...I would first look at the vaccumn actuators, the part that actually moves the arm for the dampers...if not found there then start looking at all of the lines...you can pull a line and plug it and then check the system to see if it holds..if it does you found the leak...if not move to the next one...if you can get hold of a vaccumn pump then just hook it up to the line that comes from the engine...that way you don't have to keep starting and stopping the main engine...good luck and let us know what you find...

RE: Country Coach enthusiasts...

I just read where Country Coach just laid off another 100 employees this week. They are operating only a limited schedule, but are currently closed. I think there are some real hard times currently with CC as well as the RV industry in general. The real question at this time is, will CC be able to weather this storm, as CC has been running on a tight rope for the past couple years and this just may be the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back, if you will. I guess time will tell. I was talking to a salesman at Guarantey in Coburg, OR. the other day and we got on the subject of the downturn and how it has affected the RV industry. His take, and I'm not sure I totally agrree was the only two left to be standing if this downturn hangs on for awhile, will be Newmar and Tiffin as they both are privetly owned.

RE: Country Coach enthusiasts...

Mine is a 98 model with mileage to match. Getting to the "upgrade or break" stage with house components and things like wiper motors, but still I rank this a very well made coach. Still drives like a dream, even without a tag. For the money required to buy a newer model, I think I'll stay put for now, but I am glad I bought a CC, even though I didn't research the buy well enough before pulling the trigger. You should always do your homework before you fall in love. I am beginning to feel like I am "homeworked" to death....but, you are so right!! What Boxer said is very true...I took 3 1/2 yrs before I bought mine and I feel it was well woth the wait...have fun kicking the tires and good luck in your quest...BTW many of the dealers are offering huge discounts as the iron just sits on the lots...I believe as buyers we are somewhat in the "Drivers Seat"...

RE: Country Coach enthusiasts...

We have a '99 Allure, 36'...had it for 5+ yrs...no major problems and any of the small problems were supported by CC tech dept...well built and still runs down the road without any rattles...good luck in your search... I've been looking at Allure floorplans. I don't want a washer/dryer, but I do want that "closet space," and I need it outside the bedroom. I own a 36 Allure ( 2000 model) single slide ...NO W/D! ( Wouldnt have one) No intentions to EVER get rid of it unless I hit the PowerBall....all by myself!...:B You know...I think Sully works directly for Country Coach...he probably has the CC emblem embroidered on his shorts...LOL Burro65 I am looking to trade up to a newer model so I will PM you and we can stay in touch...

RE: La Mesa RV

I agree with most of the posters...Even though I will not walk onto their lot, I wish they would close down in Mesa, AZ...I tried one time to talk to them about an Alpine and never could get a straight answer...they remind me of the early day car salesmen...sleazy and slippery...

RE: Roof AC

On my last two RV's, if you put it on automatic, the fan will cycle on and off with the compressor. If you want a constant sound all night, set the fan to low, med or high. The compressor will cycle as needed but not make any more additional noise when it comes on. I thought that it was hard on the compressor if the fan was set on low. Explain why you think this. RV roof AC units are designed to operate at all fans speeds. Doug Doug if you are asking if the A/C can operate at any of the fan speeds the answer is yes...mine will work on either low or high speed...I don't have a med speed...a/c's are generally designed for 400 cfm per ton of refrigeration effect...you can lower or raise this cfm to a certian point without damage to the system...I'm guessing the manufactures gave us this option for noise control...hope this answered your question...

RE: Weird Pacbrake issue

Since the lights affect the problem I would look there...Some coaches apply the brake lights when the Pac is activated...is it possible you have a current flow via the lights that is causing the solenoid to stay hot...possible corrosion in the sockets...not enough power to pull it in but enough to hold it in once it is on...try pulling the tail lights and stop light bulbs out and then check the operation of the Pac...what model coach do you own?...do you have a schematic for the Pac?...sounds like a fun one to troubleshoot...good luck and keep us informed as to what you find out...

RE: HWH Active Air System

Not yet but I am thinking about it...I want to be sure I am going to keep the coach before I spend $6000...I have been thinking about trading up for a dual slide 2003 or 2004...just haven't found one yet...according to the literature and talking to the factory it seems to be a pretty impressive system...you looking to buy or just curious? I keep wondering what it will give me that I don't already have?? Good point Sully...however mine will roll right and left during a high speed turn...they say your coach stays level at all times, side wind, turning, braking...we do a lot of mountain driving and if this system does what they say it will do then it might be worth it...again if I keep my present coach...also like dons I have a lot of added features on my coach that I won't have on a newer one...sounds like I am talking myself out of it...

RE: Battery compartment wide open ?

Had the same problem with the dirt getting in...took a good quality household air filter, cut it to fit the opening and put it over the intake area...now I just change the filter every couple of months and the batts stay clean...

RE: Tires on the motor home

When I bought my MoHo 5 years ago I put 6 Bridgestones R-250's on it...I just changed them out after 50,000 miles due to sidewall cracking...had 11/32nds tread depth left on the tires, about half as they come new with 22/32nds...put on the R-260 as it is the up dated tire with just a little more tread...the R-250's were great...superb ride and handling...the R-260's with more tread seem to be a little more soft and I believe they wander just a tad...tire size is 295/75R.22.5's...hope this helps...BTW this a very common tire found at most truck tire shops...

Ft. Wayne IN. RV parks open in January

We will be heading for Fort Wayne right after the first of the year to help our daughter and family move. Does anyone know of an RV park open year round in the area? We will be staying for a few weeks to help them move in and get settled. Thanks for the help.

RE: Country Coach Test drive

As others have said I would suspect the tire pressures were not even. Mine is a one hand coach, drives as easy as the wifes 530, just not as fast...
